Windows 10 loves to change the default PDF viewer back to Microsoft Edge, which is why your familiar red or purple PDF icons change to the blue E every now and then. Here's how to change your PDF viewer back to your favorite program.

  1. Find and right click a PDF file
  2. Select Open With
  3. Click on Choose another app
  4. Select the PDF application you want to use. Here are some examples
    • Foxit PhantomPDF - A PDF editor, used for viewing and editing PDFs
    • Foxit Reader - A simple PDF reader, like Abobe Reader
    • Adobe Reader - A common PDF reader
  5. Check the Always use this app to open .pdf files option

  6. Click OK
