Setting a printing Department Code on macOS

Some printers require a department code to be set in order to print in color or access other features. Here's how to set a department code in your printer and use it by default.

1. Open up the print dialog by creating a document in any application and selecting Print
2. Scroll down and expand Printer Options
   
3. Select Print Mode
   
4. Check the box by Department Code, enter the code you've been assigned, and click OK

If you want to save the Department Code as the default for all future prints, follow these steps:

1. Scroll up to Presets and expand the menu there, click on Save Current Settings as Preset
   
2. Enter a Preset name like "Department Code Preset" and click OK
   
3. Next time you print, make sure that the preset is selected and the code will be added to your print automatically
